3 Home Remedies For Damaged Hair
#1 Split ends remedy with eggs:
Split ends are a nightmare. The medical term for it is trichoptilosis and is a result of fraying of the hair shaft. Dryness, mechanical stress, chemical stress and extreme heat are typically the causes behind this condition. Fear not though, home cures are here to your rescue.
- Combine 1 egg yolk, 2-3 tbsp. olive oil and 1 tbsp. honey. Mask your hair with this combination for 30 minutes before washing off with shampoo.
- Alternately, mix 1 tsp almond oil with 1 whole egg and apply this mixture to damp hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing and shampooing.
Eggs contain protein and essential fatty acids that help strengthen your hair follicles and prevent split ends.
Use these egg masks at least once a week, but comb your hair first to remove the knots.
#2 Damaged hair treatment with tea:
Indians love drinking tea, but did you know it is a good hair treatment for damaged hair too? It can enhance the colour of your natural hair. So, brunettes, choose black tea while blondes stick to chamomile tea. Depending on your hair colour, dip a tea bag in a cup of warm water and rinse your hair with it. Let it reside for 20 to 30 minutes before finally washing off with a mild shampoo like Pantene Pro-V Total Damage Care shampoo.
#3 Dry damaged hair treatment with olive oil:
Dry hair is the result of lack of moisture to the hair’s outer layer. The sebaceous glands release oil into the hair shaft and ultimately affect the hair follicles. If you’re one to suffer from dry skin problems then beware, as you are most likely to suffer from dry hair problems too. Root causes for dry hair are plenty but the most common ones are excessive use of hair dryers, chemical treatments or due to outdoor activities like sunbathing and swimming in chlorine packed waters. Dry hair causes split ends, roughness, knots and even itchy scalps. There are several hair treatments for damaged hair, but first try these home remedies instead.
Olive Oil is probably one of the best home remedies for dry damaged hair. It is rich in fatty acids, Vitamin E and antioxidants. Olive oil seals the cuticle with moisture and in turn helps treat dry hair.
You can simply massage your scalp with warm olive oil using your fingertips and let it soak in the moisture for about 1 hour or even overnight. Wash off the extra oil with shampoo and conditioner. Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky shampoo is good option. Use this technique at least once every week for smooth lustrous hair.
Alternately prepare some hair masks with olive oil:
- Combine 1/4th cup of olive oil with ½ cup of honey. Warm this mixture and then gently massage into the scalp. Let this sit for half hour before rinsing off with lukewarm water and shampoo. Try this technique 1-2 times per week.
- Or mix 2tbsp olive oil and 2 egg yolks with ½ cup water. Mask your hair with this mixture for 20 minutes and then wash off with shampoo.
